Our little Criss Cross

So, do you remember back in the 90's when boys would wear their pants backwards because it was all the rage? Well, it's back...if you're 4 years old, and go potty by yourself, which means completely removing your pants and then put them on backwards. Sadly, it took me the better part of 2 hours to even realize that they were not on correctly. He gladly posed for a few shots of his booty with his pants on backwards {what is it with boys and butts, poots, poop and burps?}. I'll indulge you with a couple...

Mamma's little girl is growing up

Last night as I was rocking Bettye Katheryne to sleep and giving her a bottle, I was overwhelmed with how far she and Aurora have come. I remember the days in the NICU when we were allowed only 30 minutes to try and bottle feed them and started out only getting 10mL down them during that time {FYI that's about 1/3 of an ounce}. Now, she downs a 4 oz bottle in less than 10 minutes. What a big girl!

Before she could take a bottle, BK was fed through this tube

Her first tries at the bottle in the NICU

Now, feeding time is MUCH MUCH different!

Our totally awsome week and Aurora's Surgery

First, let me say a big thank you to everyone who has called to check on little Aurora, her surgery went very well {and more on that later}. We've had quite the week. Last Tuesday night, we had lightening hit our back yard and it rattled our house so that it tripped our breakers for the bedrooms and knocked out our phone/cable/internet {hooray for bundling our services}. So, we've been technology free until this afternoon. I have to say, it's been kind of nice.

What were we doing when this lightning hit our back yard you ask? We were making meatball soup...delicious...deceptively delicious. Kenneth and I bought this cookbook and while back and since we now have baby food in the house {we'll call them veggie purees}, we have the "stuff" to make this "stuff." This was our first attempt from this cook book and I have to say, it was pretty darn good.

The Cook Book

What the soup looked like {in the book}. Ours looked just like this also, I just forgot to take a photo {do you believe me???}

All of the ingredients

The recipe

Early Wednesday morning we got off to the hospital with a very tired Aurora who had not eaten since midnight the night before {OK, maybe Mommy let her suck on her bottle until 1:00AM, but what does it really matter when they were an hour late taking her in for surgery anyhow?}. She was SO SO SO good. I mean, this child was so pleasant and not let out the first whimper until 10:30 in the morning when she had enough of politely asking for a bottle and began to demand one. The surgeon took her back around 10:45 and came out at 12:15 to let us know all was well. We didn't get to go back to see her until about 1:00 and had her home by 2:30 PM. We did have to take her back to the ER that night because the poor little thing just wouldn't wake up from the morphine they gave her to "calm her down" in the post-op area. Yes, they gave my baby morphine to calm her down when all she probably wanted was her Mommy and Daddy. It still angers me, but at least she is OK and if you saw her today, you'd never know she'd had surgery. Such a little fighter we have in that one. Here's a few photos.

Wow, I love your outfit

So, Kenneth told Tristan he could pick out his own clothes this morning. The only guidelines he was given were to pick out shorts and a shirt. Nice....

shorts and a shirt

Are they Identical?

This is the question I get all the time. Yes, they are identical. However, at 6 months Aurora weighs 12lb 5oz and Bettye Katheryne weighs 16lb 4oz, so it's pretty easy to tell them apart. I'm just wondering though, can YOU tell who's who when I crop their photos? Here's a test. You'll need to respond by posting in the comment section....

1) Left Eye

2) Right Eye

3) Nose

4) Mouth

5) Who's who???

Post your answers by commenting. There's a prize for the winner! Whoever gets the most correct OR whoever gets them all correct first will win.
Answer examples:
1 - A,BK
2 - A, BK
3 - A, BK
and so on. These are not the correct answers, just an example!

Ahhh, the beach...

All four of us headed to Gulf Shores to visit with my Dad and family and celebrate my sister's birthday {note post below}. It was great to see everyone, but 2.5 hours in the car with 2 six month olds gets a little mind-numbing. You might be thinking, it shouldn't take 2.5 hours and you would be right {thanks Tom-Tom, for the lovely little excursion, plus the kind staff at the Krystal's in Foley and finally, Bettye Katheryne's poopy diaper}. Ahhh, what a lovely little car ride.

Anyhow, we are all home, safe and sound and here's what's going on in my house....

Daddy

Yes people, he is passed slap out flat on his back in the middle of the den floor...snoring like a lumberjack. I cannot make this up. So, I'm thinking a nap may be in my future as well. Thanks for having us out to the beach house and please come see us soon!

Happy Birthday Aunt Ashley

Today is Aunt Ashley's birthday. Well, one of two Aunt Ashleys. The next Aunt Ashley's birthday is next week. Confusing, huh? Today is MY sister's birthday and next Wednesday is Kenneth's sister's birthday....both named Ashley.
So, now that we have that covered...we're off to the beach to spend the day with Aunt Ashley {of the Flowers variety}. So....Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Aunt Ashley, Happy Birthday to you. I cannot believe you're 20 years old!

I have the cutest babies

I hate to break it to all of you other moms...but I have been blessed with the cutest kids. Yes, yours are pretty adorable too, but I'm a bit biased. Daddy snapped this shot this week while the girls were eating dinner and it's too cute not to share. I dare you to scroll down and not smile...

{waiting}

{go ahead, take a look}

See, I told you!

Made your day didn't it?
