Our totally awsome week and Aurora's Surgery

First, let me say a big thank you to everyone who has called to check on little Aurora, her surgery went very well {and more on that later}. We've had quite the week. Last Tuesday night, we had lightening hit our back yard and it rattled our house so that it tripped our breakers for the bedrooms and knocked out our phone/cable/internet {hooray for bundling our services}. So, we've been technology free until this afternoon. I have to say, it's been kind of nice.

What were we doing when this lightning hit our back yard you ask? We were making meatball soup...delicious...deceptively delicious. Kenneth and I bought this cookbook and while back and since we now have baby food in the house {we'll call them veggie purees}, we have the "stuff" to make this "stuff." This was our first attempt from this cook book and I have to say, it was pretty darn good.

What the soup looked like {in the book}. Ours looked just like this also, I just forgot to take a photo {do you believe me???}

The recipe

Early Wednesday morning we got off to the hospital with a very tired Aurora who had not eaten since midnight the night before {OK, maybe Mommy let her suck on her bottle until 1:00AM, but what does it really matter when they were an hour late taking her in for surgery anyhow?}. She was SO SO SO good. I mean, this child was so pleasant and not let out the first whimper until 10:30 in the morning when she had enough of politely asking for a bottle and began to demand one. The surgeon took her back around 10:45 and came out at 12:15 to let us know all was well. We didn't get to go back to see her until about 1:00 and had her home by 2:30 PM. We did have to take her back to the ER that night because the poor little thing just wouldn't wake up from the morphine they gave her to "calm her down" in the post-op area. Yes, they gave my baby morphine to calm her down when all she probably wanted was her Mommy and Daddy. It still angers me, but at least she is OK and if you saw her today, you'd never know she'd had surgery. Such a little fighter we have in that one. Here's a few photos.

The perfect little patient

Soooooo thirsty and Daddy was teasing her with the water bottle

She finally gave up and slept on Daddy's shoulder for a little bit

The brave little face...it melts my heart

The car ride home...she was O-U-T
